Artist's Statement



I started working with clay when I moved to California in 1972. By 2001 I was able to devote full-time to ceramics.

My focus is on sculpture from nature and the world around us both real and imaginary. Initially my work was primarily fountains, birdbaths and other items for yards, gardens, and decks, which I still do. As time goes on I've added figurative sculpture and "naked raku".

Big Blue Bird = a mythical beast, part chichen, part iguana and all blue.

Made with Porcelain paper clay, mason stains, fired to cone 6
